Vacation and Termination of Employment. If an employee resigns, it is not permissible to take vacation time during their notice period. Employees are to be present and fulfilling the obligations of transitioning their position during the notice period. All earned and unused time will be paid out to the employee on their final pay. If at resignation, an employee has taken more vacation time than was earned during the pro-rated period, the amount owed will be deducted from the employee’s final pay or if the final pay does not cover the owed amount, any remainder will be payable back to ECNG. In the event that a vacation has been pre-approved prior to an employee’s decision to tender resignation, it is the employee’s responsibility to plan his/her resignation date appropriately so that he/she is present and working during the notice period. This may be accomplished by cancelling booked vacation time or by beginning the notice period upon return from vacation. It is entirely within the manager’s discretion to determine if an employee is able to fulfill his/her obligations earlier than the notice period and to agree to a request by an employee to a decreased notice period before termination. If the manager agrees to decrease the notice period the employee will still be considered to have resigned in good standing. However, the employee’s last day will be the last day worked and may not be extended using vacation time.
