Salary Protection and Downward Reclassification of Position. (a) An employee shall not have his salary reduced by reason of a change in the classification of his position or placement into another position with a lower maximum salary that is caused other than by the employee. The employee shall not receive negotiated salary increases until the salary of the employee's new classification equals or exceeds the salary which the employee is receiving. When the salary of the employee's new classification equals or exceeds the salary which the employee is receiving, the employee's salary will be implemented at the maximum step of his new classification. The employee shall receive the full negotiated salary increases for his new classification thereafter.
