The Safety Footwear Program clause establishes requirements for employees to wear appropriate protective footwear while performing certain job duties. Safety Footwear Program. The Company agrees to reimburse employees following the pur- chase of approved safety boots/shoes on the following basis:
Safety Footwear Program. The City shall provide a total of two pair of safety footwear per calendar year for all Field Services employees who are required to wear such footwear in performing their duties. Such employees will be required to wear safety footwear at all times while at work.

2. Where an employee requires replacement of worn out safety boots/shoes in a period of less than 12-months from their previous purchase, the maximum reimbursement will be pro-rated by the number of full months elapsed since the previous payment.
3. Employees who purchase safety boots/shoes during their probationary period will be eligible for reimbursement only upon completion of the probationary period. It is understood between the parties that the wearing of approved safety footwear will be mandatory in the plant for all bargaining unit employees.
