PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS. A. Special care shall be taken to avoid damage wherever excavation is being done. Sufficiently sheet, shore, and brace the sides of all excavations to prevent slides, cave-ins, settlement, or movement of the banks and to maintain the specified trench widths. Use solid sheets in wet, saturated, or flowing ground. All sheeting, shoring, and bracing shall have enough strength and rigidity to withstand the pressures exerted, to keep the walls of the excavation properly in place, and to protect all persons and property from injury or damage. Separate payment will not be made for sheeting, shoring, and bracing, which are considered an incidental part of the excavation work.

PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS. For all excavation protective systems, the contractor shall assume all soil is type “C” unless a geotechnical analysis is available. All excavations 4’ deep or greater are permit required confined spaces. For excavations 4’ to 10’ in depth, the contractor is responsible to design a suitable protective system (shoring, benching, or sloping). For all excavations deeper than 10 ft. (such as UST excavations), the only approved protective systems are steel sheet pile shoring, slip shoring, and pre-manufactured trench boxes/xxxxxxx. Any exception to this requirement shall be approved by the Marketing & Sales Safety Manager.
PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS. Seller shall obtain Southwestern's approval, not to be unreasonably withheld, of the design of protective systems for the Facility, including specifications, related drawings, and calibrations of protective devices. Seller shall permit Southwestern to conduct an acceptance test of certain components of protective systems prior to initial synchronization and at certain periodic intervals following initial synchronization. Design and specification of protective relaying, alarming, fault recording, control, metering, and related systems for generators, high voltage switchgear, step-up transformers, and plant service transformers shall be as provided in the specifications therefor provided to Seller which shall be in accordance with Good Utility Practice.

  • Protective Footwear Effective January 1, 2002, and on that date for each subsequent calendar year, the Hospital will provide $80 per calendar year to each full-time and $45 per calendar year to each regular part-time employee who is required by the Hospital to wear safety footwear during the course of his duties. The employees who will be required to wear safety footwear will be negotiated locally and set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. Note: The existing central language designating the classifications of employees which are deemed to require appropriate safety footwear shall be transferred to the local appendix.
