Peace Corps Leave - VISTA Leave. 1. A leave of absence, without salary, will be granted upon written request to tenure teachers who elect to join the Peace Corps or VISTA as full time participants in such program. Such leave may not extend for more than two (2) school years and said teacher shall retain and continue to accumulate seniority during his service period, provided that he applies for reinstatement with the School District within thirty (30) days after release from such program. Such teacher shall be returned to his former position as soon as it is practicable to do so, but in no case later than the beginning of the following school year after release from said program.
