– Pay – Higher Pay Rate. ‌ An employee asked to perform work in a position of a higher pay rate shall receive the rate applicable to such position. If steps are involved, s/he shall be paid at his/her present step. When asked to perform work in a position of a higher pay rate, an employee must have worked in that position for a minimum of five (5) continuous workdays before s/he is allowed to claim a leave day or holiday at the higher rate of pay and/or change in hours associated with the new position. The higher rate of pay is not applied if an employee has taken a leave immediately prior to returning to their regular position or a holiday falls immediately prior to their return. In those cases, the leave or holiday shall be paid at the rate of pay of their regular position, not the higher rate. Examples when the higher rate of pay and/or change in hours are not applied:
