Market Volatility Risk Sample Clauses

Market Volatility Risk. Derivative markets are highly volatile and are subject to many influences which may result in rapid price fluctuations and reflect unforeseen events or changes in conditions with the inevitable consequence being market volatility. Market volatility risk is therefore the risk that the value of your positions will/may change as a result of a movement in a related market. For CFD’s, the underlying market can be a respective index or commodity you are trading, and for an FX Contract, the underlying market is the currencies you are trading. Changes to these markets can have an immediate impact on the value of your investment. Given the potential level of volatility in the markets, it is therefore your responsibility to closely monitor your Open Positions at all times.

Market Volatility Risk. The market value of the portfolio's securities may fall rapidly or unpredictably because of changing economic, political, or market conditions, which may reduce the value of the portfolio. Master/Feeder Risk: The portfolio is subject to unique risks related to the master/feeder structure. Feeder funds bear their proportionate share of fees and expenses associated with investment in the master fund. The performance of a feeder fund can be impacted by the actions of other feeder funds, including if a larger feeder fund maintains voting control over the operations of the master fund or if large- scale redemptions by another feeder fund increase the proportionate share of costs of the master fund for the remaining feeder funds. Maturity/Duration Risk: Securities with longer maturities or durations typically have higher yields but may be subject to increased interest-rate risk and price volatility compared with securities with shorter maturities, which have lower yields but greater price stability. Mid-Cap Risk: Concentrating assets in mid-capitalization stocks may subject the portfolio to the risk that those stocks underperform other capitalizations or the market as a whole. Mid-cap companies may be subject to increased liquidity risk compared with large-cap companies and may experience greater price volatility than do those securities because of more-limited product lines or financial resources, among other factors. MLP Risk: Investments in master limited partnerships ("MLP") may be subject to the risk that their value is reduced because of poor performance of the underlying assets or if they are not treated as partnerships for federal income tax purposes. Investors in MLPs have more-limited control and voting rights on matters affecting the partnership compared with shareholders of common stock.
Market Volatility Risk. Markets may be volatile and values of individual securities and other investments, including those of a particular type, may decline significantly in response to adverse issuer, political, regulatory, market, economic or other developments that may cause broad changes in market value, public perceptions concerning these developments, and adverse investor sentiment or publicity. Geopolitical and other risks, including environmental and public health risks may add to instability in world economies and markets generally. Changes in value may be temporary or may last for extended periods. If the fund sells a portfolio position before it reaches its market peak, it may miss out on opportunities for better performance. Recent Market Conditions. Some countries, including the U.S., are adopting more protectionist trade policies and moving away from the tighter financial industry regulations that followed the 2008 financial crisis. The U.S. is also said to be considering significant new investments in infrastructure and national defense which, coupled with lower federal tax rates, could lead to sharply increased government borrowing and higher interest rates. The exact shape of these policies is still being worked out through the political process, but the equity and debt markets may react strongly to expectations, which could increase volatility, especially if the market’s expectations for changes in government policies are not borne out. Higher interest rates may further strengthen the already strong U.S. dollar, which may also harm U.S. companies that rely significantly on exports. Although prices of many U.S. equity securities have increased substantially over several years, some market prognosticators reportedly believe market indicators point toward a period of decline. The economies of many other nations are weaker than that of the U.S., and economic weakness in U.S. trading partners may harm long-term growth in the U.S. The recent decisions by the Fed to lower a key interest rate may reflect concerns about the strength of the U.S. economy. Changes in U.S. law over the past decade may leave the federal government with fewer tools to address severe market dislocations in the future. High public debt in the U.S. and other countries creates ongoing systemic and market risks and policymaking uncertainty. Interest rates have been unusually low in recent years in the U.S. and abroad.
