Maintaining Safety. 13.4.5.1 When a student’s behavior requires immediate action by the employee to prevent harm to self and others, the employee shall be authorized to send the student(s) to an administrator’s office along with the communication identifying this as a situation where the teacher needs assistance. The student will not be returned to the referring employee’s classroom until the administrator (or designee) confers, in person, with the referring employee and communicates what action is being taken.

When a student is seriously disrupting the instructional program by engaging in physical violence, verbal or written threats, intimidation, or harm to self or others the employee will call the office for immediate assistance. The teacher will provide a description of what assistance is needed. The student will not be returned to the referring employee’s classroom until the administrator (or designee) confers, in person, with the referring employee and communicates next steps towards repair.
