Job Change Encouraged Without Penalty. It shall be the policy of the Employer to openly encourage present employees to make application for new, different, or more advanced positions for which they may be qualified, without apprehension or concern about penalty or loss of their present position. There shall typically be a 30 calendar day trial period after an employee voluntarily changes from one position covered by this agreement to another position covered by this agreement. During the trial period, the employee may be returned to the former position and salary at either the Employer’s or the employee’s request. If an employee will not be allowed the option to return to the former position, the employee must be notified in writing prior to leaving the former position. The employee’s seniority shall not be modified as a result of the trial period. An employee who returns to a former position during the trial period does not obtain the right to bump an employee to avoid layoff by virtue of having served in another classification for 30 or less days.

  • Time Off Without Pay (a) Time spent in the transaction of business which is unrelated to the functioning of the University such as time spent at the Union's International or Local Officer.

  • Education Leave Without Pay I. The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.

  • Authorized Leave Without Pay A. Agency/Departmental Leave‌ A regular, limited-term or probationary employee may request an agency/departmental leave without pay for a period of time not to exceed fifteen (15) calendar days. The granting of such Leave shall be at the discretion of the agency/department, except in cases where Official Leave has been authorized pursuant to B.4., B.5. and Sections 10, 11.A. and 14, below. The agency/department head may require that all accumulated compensatory leave time be used prior to granting of agency/departmental leave. The use of earned vacation or annual leave prior to the obtaining of agency/departmental leave shall be at the option of the employee.

  • Court Appearance Leave Without Pay An employee may request and shall be granted leave without pay for the time required to make an appearance as a plaintiff or defendant in a civil or criminal court proceeding that is not connected with the employee's officially assigned duties. However, reduction in salary will not be made for an FLSA-exempt employee to testify in court or at a deposition except for full workweek increments where such testimony causes an absence of one (1) or more full workweeks.

  • Shift Change Where employees are assigned mid-week to work a non-day shift (whether due to emergencies or a shift change) and as a result lose a shift in the regular work week, such employees will be paid six (6) hours for such loss of earnings.

  • Leave Without Pay for Personal Needs Leave without pay will be granted for personal needs, in the following manner:

  • Sick Leave Without Pay Sick leave without pay shall be granted to an employee who does not qualify for sick leave with pay, or who is unable to return to work at the termination of the period for which sick leave with pay is granted.
