DEPENDENCY LEAVE. 1. Dependency Leave shall be considered a valid use of sick leave when it is necessary for a bargaining unit member to be absent from work in order to care for an immediate family member as listed in section H of this Chapter. A bargaining unit member may use up to five (5) days of dependency leave each year. In the event the bargaining unit member requires additional leave to care for dependents, the bargaining unit member shall apply for such leave in writing including a statement by a licensed physician concerning the specific nature of the illness and the need for the employee to be absent from work to care for a dependent for a specific period of time.

DEPENDENCY LEAVE. 1. An employee shall be allowed a leave of absence without pay when family circumstances require his or her presence at home for an extended period of time. Such family circumstance shall include, but are not limited to, childcare, parent care or long-term illness of family member.
