Emergency Leave definition

Emergency Leave. An emergency is a sudden or unexpected urgent situation, demanding prompt action and no other family member is available. These are sudden and unexpected and the employee is the person responsible for taking prompt action. In each of these cases, the situation ceases to be an emergency as soon as alternate arrangements are in place. The employee is responsible to take action as soon as they are aware of the emergency, so they can return to work.
Emergency Leave means a normal workday, when an employee is excused from active duty for emergency reasons. Said time is deducted from the employee's yearly sick leave balance. If no sick leave is available, the employee is not eligible to receive an emergency leave day. Only upon the discretion of the Chief of Police (or the Deputy Chief of Operations in his absence) will a part-time employee be allowed to take a day off for emergency leave without pay.
Emergency Leave. An emergency is defined as a suddenly precipitated problem which is of such a nature that preplanning was not possible or could not have relieved the necessity for the employee’s absence. In the event that an employee is unable to report to work due to an emergency situation, the employee may choose to take the absence as personal or sick leave.

More Definitions of Emergency Leave

Emergency Leave. The funeral leave benefit shall be limited to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours during three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled working days, and the critical illness benefits shall be limited to six (6) hours.
Emergency Leave means a sudden or unexpected occurrence demanding prompt attention and attendance. Part-time employees will be credited with prorated days based upon the length of actual teaching time. The superintendent may require a physician's written statement to allow use of accumulated sick leave beyond three days. Sick leave may be utilized to care for a child of the employee with a health condition that requires treatment or supervision. An employee's sick leave may be used in case of illness in the immediate family, parent of employee or parent-in-law, grandparent, spouse, or sibling of employee. Immediate family shall include children, husband or wife, registered domestic partner or any other person living in the immediate household as a member of the employee's family. All days used for family illness will be charged against the employee's accumulated sick leave.
Emergency Leave. A paid leave to accommodate extreme situations when other leaves do not apply. A member must give a reason for the request, and such leave will be approved or denied by a committee consisting of the Superintendent or designee, principal of the building from which the request was made, and the president of the Association or designee.
Emergency Leave. For life threatening emergencies involving non- immediate family members, up to four (4) days of sick leave may be used. Thereafter, in each fiscal year, the employee may use pay-deduct days for life threatening emergencies. For purposes of this subdivision, non-immediate family members shall be defined as grandchildren and corresponding in laws.
Emergency Leave caused by and limited to a serious life-threatening incident in the offender's immediate family, subject to a maximum period of seven (7) days, to be reimbursed at fifty percent (50%) of the regular per diem rate.
Emergency Leave is defined as an unanticipated, unforeseen event of a serious or critical nature. The granting of emergency leave is left with the Superintendent and/or designee, and the success of it depends upon the professional approach to its use. Only one [1] day of emergency leave may be requested for use during inclement weather.
Emergency Leave. A total of five (5) days in any one year may be taken for emergency leave which 1/2 days’ pay shall be deducted for each day of emergency leave used, not cumulative above 5 days. The purpose of this provision is to allow for the absence of the employee who cannot logically be absent at school expense or for which the employee should be charged a full day's pay. Final interpretation of this situation must be made by the Business Manager.
