Application for Leave of Absence. An application requesting a leave of absence pursuant to this Article must be submitted to the Superintendent no later than three (3) weeks prior to the time the leave is to commence, provided, however, in proper cases, exceptions shall be made. The request for the leave of absence must be in writing setting forth the reasons for the leave of absence and the anticipated length of time; and if requested, verification shall be submitted. Any extensions for leaves of absence shall be handled the same as the request for the regular leave. The date of return from any leave under this section shall be established in advance by mutual agreement of the Board and the teacher.
