Accrual of Vacation and Sick Leave. Accrual of vacation leave and sick leave benefits during the period of leave of absence with pay shall continue. If an employee is granted leave without pay, they will not be credited with vacation or sick leave accruals for the period of leave without pay with the exception of approved military leave where accruals are required by law to be credited.
Accrual of Vacation and Sick Leave. The employee shall continue to accrue vacation and sick leave in accordance with the contract while the employee is working his or her regularly assigned FTE.

At the time of the Superintendent’s retirement, death, termination, or contract non-renewal, the Superintendent or his estate shall receive one hundred percent (100%) of all accrued vacation. All accrued vacation days which accrued prior to July 1, 2023, will also be submitted for payment. The Superintendent, or his estate, will have the option to receive a buyback of his sick leave accumulated before the start date of this Agreement either (a) at the start date of this Agreement, or (b) upon his retirement, death, termination, or contract non-renewal. The Superintendent, or his estate, will receive payment of one third (1/3) of the accumulated sick days; however, the number of days applied to the 1/3 formula shall be capped at four hundred seven (407). The salary used to calculate the value of the sick leave buyback shall be his salary as it existed on June 30, 2021.
