XXXXXX HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS. The steering hydraulic system shall be similar to an Xxxxx Xxxx-Xxxx Orbitrol. Hydraulic cylinders shall be constructed from bronze and or stainless steel. Cylinder configuration shall provide a balanced hydraulic configuration. Hydraulic cylinders on each rudder shall be provided with local bypass valving to allow periodic adjustment of rudder alignment. The steering hydraulic system shall be powered by two 120/240 VAC redundant hydraulic power units. Each unit shall have separate: reservoir, hydraulic oil cooler, and steering control valves. The reservoirs shall be provided with fluid level sight glasses. A DC backup power system shall be provided for the steering hydraulic system. The DC steering system shall draw power from the house battery banks to operate for a minimum of four (4) hours in case of emergency. The DC backup shall automatically provide power to the steering pumps in case of AC power failure. The steering hydraulic system shall be sized to provide 45 degree rudder travel Hard over to Hard Over to each side. The steering system shall be sized to provide rudder Hard Over to Hard Over time not exceeding 8 seconds at propulsion engine full power. A steering hydraulics monitoring and alarm panel shall be provided at the operator’s station. The panel shall provide the following: • Power available for each of the two hydraulic pumps • Run indication for each of the two hydraulic pumps • Selector switch for the two hydraulic pumps • Low fluid level alarm for each of the two hydraulic reservoirs. • Rudder Angle Indicator
