Union Activity During Working Time. Solicitation of Union membership, collection or checking of dues, will not be permitted during working hours. The Company agrees not to discriminate in any way against any employee for the filing of complaints or grievances or for Union activity. Any employee engaged in unsanctioned Union activity during working time, except as specifically allowed by the provisions of this agreement, or by other agreement between the Company and the Union, is subject to disciplinary action.

Serious illness is defined as an illness which requires the employee to receive on-going medical care and/or treatments resulting in either hospitalization or which would confine the employee to their residence or to bed rest for more than three days. The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be sick leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits.
