Substitute Employee A person who takes the place of an employee on a non-permanent, day-to-day basis, until the regularly assigned employee returns or is replaced.

Permanent Employee Definition: An employee who has completed a probationary period or a permanent employee who is serving a probationary period in the same or a different class.
