Subject Matter Expert Eligibility Criteria. To be eligible to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the purposes of multiple-choice appeals, the individual must be above the rank of the candidates being tested. The Division of Police, the Public Safety Department, and the Lodge will be afforded the opportunity to provide recommendations for individuals to serve as SMEs.
