Overtime: Compensation Rate for Police Officers. (This paragraph applies solely to Police Officers.) Except as permitted in Sections 19.1 and 19.2 an employee's compensation rate for work required by the employer exceeding his/her normal workday or workweek or on a holiday shall be one and one-half (1-1/2) times his/her regular compensation rate. All hours worked on a holiday shall be compensated at [the same rate of pay] two and one-half (2-1/2) times regular pay, including hours beyond eight (8) hours worked in that day, but the employee shall not also be eligible for time off with pay for any of these hours. However, effective October 1, 1991, time off with pay (up to a maximum of eight hours) shall be provided when the holiday hours worked are on an unscheduled, emergency basis. Persons employed for holiday work only, or persons employed on a part-time work schedule which is less than twenty (20) hours in a bi-weekly pay period, or persons employed on an intermittent part-time work schedule (not regularly scheduled), or persons employed on as-needed, seasonal or project basis for less than six (6) months continuous service, or persons on leave without pay status immediately preceding or immediately following the legal holiday shall not receive holiday pay.
