PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries and supplemental Schedule B stipends of teacher covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedules "A" and "B" which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement.
B. Outside teaching experience in schools of approved standing may be granted at full credit. This provision shall not be retroactive prior to the date of this contract.
C. Salary adjustments for advanced training will be made twice each year at the beginning of each semester (pro-rated for second semester) for training completed prior to either date at a state accredited college or university. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to notify the personnel office within thirty (30) days of the completion of the necessary work and/or confirmation of the degree.
D. When normal daily load of any teacher is expanded through assignment of extra students or by changing teacher’s assignment for the day to provide for lack of substitutes, or to provide intervention services via an independent program, said teacher shall be paid $25.00 per class in the Senior High and Middle School. When pupils in any elementary class are divided among several teachers, said teachers shall be paid at a total rate per day not to exceed substitute pay plus $5.00 and to be divided among teachers involved. When any senior high or Middle School teacher forgoes his/her preparation period on an ongoing basis to take a teaching assignment, other than as a substitute for a teacher absent from their classroom, or to provide intervention services via an independent program, said teacher shall be paid one-sixth of their daily rate for the Middle School and 1/5 for the High School per lost preparation period. All available qualified teachers shall have the opportunity to voluntarily apply for such an assignment.
E. Teachers shall be paid their regular salaries (not to include Schedule B duties) according to one of the following schedules with each staff member having the option of choosing one of these schedules which shall be indicated no later than the first week of school.
1. Payment of twenty-six (26) or twenty-one (21) equal installments with deductions and withholdings as indicated by the salary schedule.
2. Those staff members who elect the twenty-six (26) payment schedule may select one of two options:
a. A lump sum, "balloon" payment representing six (6) equal installments on the last pay date of the school year;
b. Continue to receive a paycheck every two weeks throughout the summer until the 2...
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the designated periods.
B. All teachers shall be given a maximum of five (5) years credit on the Salary Schedule set forth in Appendix B for full years of outside teaching experience in any school district in the State of Michigan or other teaching experience in a school district accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. All teachers not at the top of the salary schedule and presently employed effective this salary contract date will be placed on the updated salary schedule. There shall be no retroactivity prior to effective contract date.
C. A teacher’s hourly rate is to be determined by dividing his/her annual regular salary by the number of days he/she is contracted divided by the number of hours for which he/she works per day.
D. Teachers involved in voluntary extra duty assignments as set forth in Appendix B-1 which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement without deviation. (Floats shall not be assigned to a teacher.)
E. Teachers required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one (1) school building to another shall receive a car allowance at current board rate. Teachers who are regularly assigned to work in more than one (1) building are entitled to a stipend of one-hundred dollars ($100) per year, to be paid at the end of the school year. Bargaining unit members who previously received mileage for traveling between buildings will continue to receive the mileage allowance.
F. All teachers may elect to have their pay in twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) installments. After the first pay a teacher may not change their election of either the twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) pay installment.
G. Once every school year during the September open enrollment period, each teacher will be given the choice of his/her check being directly deposited into any bank accounts or credit union accounts of his/her choice for that school year.
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement.
B. The salary schedule is based upon a normal academic year. For extra work the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate additional professional compensation. See Schedule B.
C. Whenever possible teachers involved in voluntary extra curricular activities will be notified at the end of each school year of such involvement for the ensuing school year. All positions regarding extra curricular activities including but not limited to coaching positions are not tenure positions, and are yearly appointments. Such assignments will be made with due consideration given to the person who had the assignment the previous year. While appointment to and removal from extra curricular activities is in the Employer’s discretion (with or without cause), the Employer will, upon written request from the employee (within five (5) school days after notice of the intended action), advise the employee of the reasons for failure to appoint them to the desired position. The Employer’s decision may be reviewed through the Grievance Procedure (excluding arbitration) by submitting the request directly to Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure (the Superintendent’s level) within five (5) days following the employee’s receipt of such reasons.
D. A teacher new to the system shall be given credit on the salary scale for previous years of teaching experience in a public school, private school, or institute of higher education beyond a K-12 District, up to seven years. At the sole discretion of the Board, a new teacher may be granted additional experience on a year-to-year experience basis.
E. Increments become effective at the beginning of each academic year and advancement under the salary schedule shall be automatic as of September 1 or February 1 following completion of required academic or professional courses and attainment of additional experience. Beginning with the 1993-94 school year, additional credits earned before September 1 or February 1, will entitle the teacher to move on the salary schedule as soon as certified transcripts are received by the district. If the transcript is received after September 1 or February 1, retroactive pay to those dates will be granted provided the credits were earned before September 1 or February 1.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix A, which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement.
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule A, which is attached to, and incorporated in, this Agreement.
1. The salary Schedule A. I. is for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VI. For extra duty which has received prior administrative approval, the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate professional compensation: in compensatory time; through a teacher's hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3; or in accordance with Sections E or F of this Article; or as listed in Schedule A. II, as may be applicable. The administration shall establish a system-wide list of additional activities for which compensatory time will be available and the amount of compensatory time associated with each. This list shall be updated with HEA input on a yearly basis and be distributed to teachers at the start of each school year.
2. Compensatory time is defined as personal leave earned by extra duty, and may be substituted for monetary payment equal to the teacher hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3.
a. Accrued compensatory time may be used at the discretion of the teacher provided that, compensatory time shall not be scheduled for use on more that three (3) consecutive school days. Furthermore, compensatory time may not be scheduled contiguous to Christmas, mid- winter and/or spring break. Exceptions for special circumstances my be granted by the signed approval of the building principal and contingent upon substitute availability. Within five (5) days the teacher must confirm with the building principal that a substitute has been obtained.
b. Compensatory time shall be credited and deducted as follows: For substitution at the High School, Middle School, and Elementary level during a teacher’s planning period or specials time, a “unit” of instruction shall be credited and deducted in whole units. Five (5) “units” of instruction shall equate to one compensatory “day”. Compensatory time can only be earned and used in whole “units”.
c. A teacher may carry over a maximum of the equivalence of ten (10) days of accumulated compensatory time to the next school year. Should a teacher have more than ten (10) days of compensatory time accumulated at the end of the school year the teacher shall have the option of either converting his/her compensatory time he/she has accumulated beyond the ten (10) day carry over maximum into sick time at a one (1) compensatory day (or portion thereof) to one (1) sick leave day (...
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salary schedule is based upon normal full-time teaching load as hereinafter defined in this Article and Article 5 of this Agreement and upon the school calendar. The denominator to determine a teacher’s daily pay will be the number of teacher obligation days listed on the calendar. Scheduled days and hours of student instruction which are not held because of conditions not within the control of school authorities, such as (severe storms), fires, epidemics, (utility power unavailability, water or sewer failure), or health conditions (as defined by city, county or State health authorities) will be rescheduled to ensure that there are a minimum number of days and hours of student instruction as prescribed by the Revised School Code and the State School Aid Act to enable the Board to receive full pupil membership and categorical appropriations. Teachers shall be excused from reporting for school on those days on which school is closed due to the above conditions. Teachers will receive their regular pay for days that are cancelled, but shall work the rescheduled days and/or hours with no additional compensation. Teachers who have been previously scheduled to take paid leave under this Agreement on a day(s) of pupil instruction that is cancelled due to the conditions specified in this Article shall not have their absence on such day(s) charged against paid leave provided that the teacher works any required rescheduled day(s) and/or hours of instruction without additional compensation, as specified in this Article. The parties agree that this contract provision has been negotiated to comply with the provisions of the State School Aid Act; to ensure that the District will incur no loss of State aid; and to comply with requirements set forth in the Revised School Code and State School Aid Act respecting the required number of “student instruction” days and hours. If any scheduled days and hours of student instruction are canceled after May 20, whether or not these cancelled days and hours are required to be rescheduled for receipt of State aid, these cancelled days and hours will be rescheduled as part of the school calendar unless the Board and Association mutually agree to waive this provision. The purpose of this provision is to provide a smooth end to the school year.
B. A teacher engaged during the school day in negotiating or grievance processing on behalf of the Association with any representative of the Board shall be released from regular duties. If...
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Article XXII, Sections A, B and C, which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement.
B. The salary schedule is based on a weekly teaching load as defined in this Agreement.
C. Teachers whose teaching assignments are .50 to 1.0 will advance on step on the salary schedule. Teachers whose teaching assignments are .10 to .49 will receive a half step on the salary schedule
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 22.1 All full-time teachers, with the exception of JROTC instructors, school psychologists, and secondary guidance counselors (defined as guidance counselors in schools housing seventh grade or above), will be paid for 196 days according to the salary schedule as shown in Appendix C.
22.1-1 The standard year employment for psychologists is 216 days, however flexible length contracts of 196 days or 247 days may be made available at the discretion of the Coordinator of Psychological Services. Requests for the flexible contracts are voluntary and positions will be filled according to seniority as defined in Article XIX, Section 19.2. A balance of flexible contracts will be maintained. Psychologists may be permitted to change to a flexible contract before each new school year through the Coordinator of Psychological Services. School psychologists performing psychological assessments of students on Saturday will be paid based on the Adult School Salary Schedule as shown in Appendix E. If a student is a no show the School Psychologist shall remain at the worksite for two (2) paid hours. Should there be more psychologists requesting these assignments than available referrals, assignments will be given according to seniority in the county.
22.1-2 JROTC instructors shall be given the option, at the beginning of the school year, of going on the teacher salary schedule or be paid on the basis of the Board's agreement with the various branches of the armed services. School psychologists and secondary guidance counselors shall be paid for 216 days according to the salary schedule shown in Appendix C.
22.1-3 All teachers employed in the Polk Virtual School program shall observe the traditional calendar. Polk Virtual School instructional personnel shall be paid according to the salary schedule shown in Appendix F.
22.1-4 College and Career Specialists will be paid for 216 days according to the salary schedule as shown in Appendix C.
22.1-5 Grant writers must adhere to the salary schedule (Appendix E, or in accordance with Article 22.18) when making budgets for teacher pay schedules.
22.2 Teachers hired for the first time in Polk County will be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule (Appendix C) based upon verified out-of-county experience provided the out-of-county experience is verified in writing within 90 days of the date of hire.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix D1, which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary shall remain in effect during the designated periods.
B. Teachers beginning their 12th year (having completed eleven years) of service to the district through those in the 16th year of service (having completed fifteen years) shall receive step 1 longevity. Teachers beginning their 17th year or more (having completed sixteen years) of service to the district shall receive step 2 longevity. Teachers beginning their 22nd year or more (having completed 21 years) of service shall receive step 3 longevity. C. New teachers hired into the school system may be given credit for outside experience at the discretion of the superintendent. However, if the district is experiencing financial stress and already employed unit members have steps or have received no increase on the base for three years, no steps can be granted for outside experience.
D. A teacher shall be granted up to two years credit on the salary schedule for military service provided:
1. The teacher was drafted.
2. The teacher possesses an honorable discharge.
3. At the time of being drafted the teacher had completed standards of certification.
4. That upon discharge the teacher is employed as a teacher.
E. Part-time teacher salaries are determined by the following:
a. Teach (3) hours and a Guided Instruction or work hour (.6 of time-no prep period paid)
b. Teach (2) hours and a Guided Instruction or work hour is (.4 of a teacher – no planning paid)
F. Junior high and high school teachers who are asked to teach an additional hour will be compensated 5% of their current salary for each semester they teach.
G. A teacher’s hourly rate shall be determined by dividing the salary by total work days divided by eight hours.
H. Teachers involved in voluntary extra duty assignments as set forth by Appendix B which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement, shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement without deviation.
I. Department heads shall be assigned for the department listed in Appendix B 1 and shall be compensated at the indicated rate.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 4.1 The salary schedules, longevity and early retirement provisions, etc. of professional staff members covered by this Agreement are set forth in the schedules which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedules and fringe benefits shall remain in effect for the duration of this Agreement, except where otherwise stated herein.
4.2 Full time professional staff members shall be entitled to all benefits under the Agreement. Professional staff members employed for less than full time shall be entitled to benefits on a prorated basis as compared to full time employment, provided that no professional staff member shall receive less than one-half (½) the benefits of a full time professional staff member. All professional staff members shall be entitled to full dental, vision, life insurance, and any additional insurance benefits under this Agreement.
4.3 The salary schedule for each professional staff member position shall be based upon the appropriate calendar included in this Agreement and the agreed upon working hours. Professional staff members whose positions extend beyond the length of the appropriate calendar shall be compensated for such extended employment at their per diem rate. Orientation days for beginning professional staff members will be compensated for at their per diem rate when such days are outside the contractual year.
4.4 Professional staff members accepting co-curricular positions, as set forth in Tables II and III which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement, shall be compensated in accordance with said tables.
4.5 Professional staff members shall be paid twenty-six (26) times per year. The individual professional staff members may, however, elect to receive their pay every other week during the term of his/her individual contract, provided he/she notifies the Finance Office no later than five work days prior to the first payday of his/her contract. Professional staff members who have elected to receive their pay in twenty-six (26) installments may receive the balance of their contractual salary in the last pay covering their contract year by notifying the Finance Office no later than May 15. A copy of the next year’s payroll schedule shall be included with the last paycheck issued prior to May 1, of the current year.
