MOVING AND HANDLING. Training to be given by Physiotherapist Or an Accredited Moving and Handling Trainer Occupational Therapist Criteria for training The child needs moving and handling Specific issues to be covered in training Legislation Anatomy and biomechanics Risk assessment Basic practical skills (may include basic introduction to use of hoists if applicable) Written information and documentation which needs to be in place Employing agencies to have own moving and handling policies Method of assessment To be decided by employing agency Monitoring At the discretion of the employing agency – every two years is suggested Accredited Training organisation Criteria for training All care workers undertaking level 3 and/or level 4 tasks Specific issues to be covered in training Basic first aid, to include CPR and choking in adults and children Written information and documentation which needs to be in place Record of training and individual agency guidance for calling for emergency support Method of assessment To be decided by employing agency Monitoring Annually

MOVING AND HANDLING. 24.1 The Council expects that the Individual should be given support in remaining as mobile as possible, whilst recognising the need to provide for the Individual if they choose not to be active. The Contractor is required to provide levels of flexible support and assistance with mobility, in response to the Individual’s ability and motivation, which may vary both throughout the twenty four (24) hour period and from day to day.
