Illness – Personal/Family. Employees will be granted 15 days sick/family leave their first year of employment, 16 days their second year, 17 days their third year, 18 days their fourth year and thereafter. Unused sick leave balances will carry forward from one year to the next. Employees may use this accrued time for their own personal illness, or for the illness of a member of their immediate family. For the purpose of this section, the “immediate family” is defined as husband, wife, mother, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, son, (or spouse’s son), son-in-law, daughter, (or xxxxxx’s daughter), daughter-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchildren, any relative living as a member of an administrator’s household, or any other person with whom the administrator has developed an immediate family-like obligation due to established past personal relationships.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family ‌ An employee may use up to one-half of his or her annual sick leave allocation in any calendar year in the event of illness or a spouse, child, parent, or domestic partner. At the City's request the employee will provide satisfactory evidence of the facts justifying such absence.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Personal Illness or Disability The bargaining unit member may use all or any portion of his leave to recover from his/her own illness or disability.

  • Illness in Family A leave of absence without pay up to one (1) year shall be granted for the purpose of caring for a sick member of the secretary's immediate family. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board.

  • Illness in Immediate Family 1. Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher. Serious illness shall mean an illness where death is probable and may occur, surgery is performed requiring hospitalization, or illness requiring treatment by a physician. Two (2) additional days of sick leave may be used where round trip travel is 600 miles or more.

  • Illness in the Family Where no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs during illness of an immediate member of her family, an employee shall be entitled after notifying her supervisor, to use a maximum of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness to care for the member of the family who is ill.

  • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / carer's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). Part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata benefit. Paid personal / carer's leave is cumulative.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

  • Sick/Personal Leave Leave granted to the teacher for sick, personal or bereavement reasons.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.
