Frequency of Meal Breaks During Ordinary Hours. An employee will not be compelled to work for more than five (5) hours at Mulwala and six (6) hours at Benalla without a meal break, unless otherwise agreed between the Company and the employee/s concerned. Time and a half rates will apply to all work done during meal periods and thereafter until a break is allowed. However, an employee working on regular maintenance may work during meal breaks at ordinary rates whenever instructed to do so: • for the purpose of making good breakdowns of plant; or • upon routine maintenance of plant which can only be done while such plant is idle; or • to set up plant or machinery which will be used immediately following the meal break. The time during which a meal break is taken may be varied as agreed between the Company and the majority of affected employees, to meet special work conditions.

  • Union Activity During Working Hours The Employer and the Union recognize that union representatives and stewards play an important role in effectuating the terms of this Agreement; however, both parties acknowledge that the duties undertaken as a union representative or xxxxxxx are in addition to the their job assignments.   • Maintenance during Construction Period (i) During the Construction Period, the Contractor shall maintain, at its cost, the existing lane(s) of the Project Highway so that the traffic worthiness and safety thereof are at no time materially inferior as compared to their condition on Appointed Date, and shall undertake the necessary repair and maintenance works for this purpose; provided that the Contractor may, at its cost, interrupt and divert the flow of traffic if such interruption and diversion is necessary for the efficient progress of Works and conforms to Good Industry Practice; provided further that such interruption and diversion shall be undertaken by the Contractor only with the prior written approval of the Authority’s Engineer which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld.   • Work During Vacation Should an employee who has commenced his scheduled vacation and agrees upon request by the Hospital to return to perform work during the vacation period, the employee shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times his basic straight time rate for all hours so worked. To replace the originally scheduled days on which such work was performed, the employee will receive one (1) vacation lieu day off for each day on which he has so worked.
