Related to Chargeable Union Time‌

  • Union Time The Union President or his designated representative(s) shall have available a bank of two hundred (200) hours maximum per contract year to conduct Union business. This means the combined hours used by the Union President and his designated representative(s) to conduct the above described activities shall not exceed two hundred (200) hours per contract year. Such leave shall be provided upon written notice by the Union submitted to the Department Head not less than one (1) calendar week in advance of the requested date, or in the event that the one week notice is not possible, it shall be provided with reasonable notice. The designated representative(s) will consist of any PAGE board member, the two Vice-Presidents, Chief Xxxxxxx, Secretary, and Treasurer. In the event that a Union representative is required to attend meetings, or otherwise conduct business during his off duty time, and the business occurs within eight (8) hours of the start of their work shift, the Union representative will be allowed to use part of all of their shift off using Union time.   • Local Union Leave Upon written request, leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees for Union business in accordance with the following provisions:

  • Unpaid Leave - Union Business (a) Short-term leave of absence without pay to a maximum of fourteen (14) days at one time shall be granted to employees designated by the Union to transact Union business including conventions and conferences unless this would unduly interrupt the operation of the department provided, however, that these designated employees shall be paid by the Employer for time lost in attending meetings during working hours whenever their attendance is requested by the Employer. The Union shall give reasonable notice to minimize disruption of the department and the Union shall make every effort to give a minimum of seven (7) days' notice.

  • Union Leaves Employees on Union Leaves will be treated as provided in Article 18 (Q) while working on Union leave.

  • Local Union Business Leave The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to local bargaining unit members for the purpose of attending Union seminars and/or attending to Union business. The cumulative total leave of absence will be determined locally, but shall not exceed forty (40) days per year per hospital. The amount of notice required and the number of employees who may be absent at any one time and from any one area shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.

  • Full-Time Union Leave Upon application by the Union, in writing, the Company will grant leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to full-time Union position. It is understood that not more than one (1) employee in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Seniority and service shall accumulate during the full term of such leave.

  • Union Leave (a) Upon receiving a written request at least one (1) week in advance from the Union, the Company will grant leave of absence for not more than two (2) employees at any one time to attend Union conferences, conventions, or workshops, providing that the combined leaves of absence will not exceed forty (40) working days in any one (1) calendar year. Such leaves of absence will be without pay but with maintenance and accumulation of benefits (normal payroll deductions to apply).

  • CHECK-OFF UNION DUES 5.1 The Corporation shall, subject to the conditions and exceptions set forth hereunder, deduct on the payroll for the first pay period of each month from wages due and payable to each employee coming within the scope of this Collective Agreement, an amount equal to the prevailing monthly dues of the Union and shall remit the same by cheque (accompanied by a statement of deductions from individuals) to the Union Local Secretary- Treasurer, not later than twenty (20) days following the pay period in which the deductions are made.

  • Time Off for Union Business Leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted:

  • EMPLOYER AND UNION SHALL ACQUAINT NEW EMPLOYEES The Employer agrees to acquaint new employees with the fact that a Collective Agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment set out in the Articles dealing with Union Security and Dues Check-off. The Employer agrees to provide the name, worksite phone number, and location of the new employee's xxxxxxx in the letter of hiring. Whenever the xxxxxxx is employed in the same work area as the new employee, the employee's immediate supervisor will introduce her to her xxxxxxx. The Employer agrees that a Union xxxxxxx will be given an opportunity to interview each new employee within regular working hours, without loss of pay, for thirty (30) minutes sometime during the first thirty (30) days of employment for the purpose of acquainting the new employee with the benefits and duties of Union membership and the employee's responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union.
