Common use of Bereavement/Compassionate Leave Clause in Contracts

Bereavement/Compassionate Leave. (a) When there is a death of an immediate family member of a Member, the Member concerned shall be entitled to up to five (5) days of bereavement leave with full pay and benefits. Where there is a death of a Member's grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, the Member shall be entitled to up to three (3) days of bereavement leave with full pay and benefits. Additional days absence, with full pay and benefits, may be arranged by the Member with the appropriate person where this is necessary for travel, religious requirements or similar good reasons. The Member shall notify the appropriate person when such leave, basic or extended, will be taken.
