Common use of Bereavement/Compassionate Leave Clause in Contracts

Bereavement/Compassionate Leave. In the case of a death of an Immediate relative, the employee shall be granted a leave of absence not exceeding five (5) working days, three (3) days of which shall be leave with full pay. “Immediate Relative” - parent, grandparent, guardian, brother, sister, child, husband or wife (including common-law) or the parent, brother, sister or child of an employee's spouse (including common-law), as the case may be, and step- parents, step-children, or step-siblings.
