ARTICLE 8:00 – Seniority Sample Clauses

ARTICLE 8:00 – Seniority. Seniority for Part Time Employees shall accrue for absences due to Pregnancy and/or Parental Leave, Bereavement Leave or an absence due to a disability resulting in WSIB benefits, or illness and injury in excess of thirty (30) consecutive calendar days. The rate of accumulation will be based on the Employee’s normal weekly seniority hours accrued over the proceeding qualifying twenty-six (26) weeks. A qualifying week is a week where the Employee is not absent due to vacation, Pregnancy/Parental Leave, WSIB or illness or injury that exceeds thirty (30) consecutive calendar days. Such seniority hours will be added and counted towards seniority upon the Employee’s return to work, or immediately prior to the publication of the April or October seniority lists whichever is earlier.

  • Super Seniority In the event of a layoff, the Plant Chairperson, Committeepersons and Stewards shall have super seniority.

  • Company Seniority An employee's total accumulated time of employment with the Company which has not been interrupted by a continuous period in excess of six (6) months.

  • PROMOTIONS AND SENIORITY Promotion in the VFRS shall be based on eligibility and on the candidate having the ability to perform the essential duties of the rank at the time of promotion. In cases where two candidates are relatively equal in their aggregate scores, the more senior member in the division will be ranked higher for the purpose of both promotion and acting assignments.

  • Seniority Frozen When an Agency intends to initiate a layoff, the Agency will notify the Union in writing that all seniority will be frozen from the date of notice for a period not to exceed three (3) months. However, during the period when seniority is frozen, the employee will continue to accumulate time towards seniority for purposes of future computations. The three (3) month freeze may be extended by mutual written agreement of the Union and the Agency.

  • Role of Seniority A reduction in force shall be based on seniority within a department, discipline or specialty, provided that the senior staff have appropriate qualifications and are providing satisfactory service. Whenever possible, an employee shall be given an opportunity to serve the College in some other capacity for which he/she is qualified. This clause applies to all employees, including those on leave at time of reduction of staff.
