Ancestral territory means the territory designated by a tribe and submitted to the Native American Heritage Commission (NAHC) to provide to state agencies and local government for notice of projects under Assembly Bill (AB) 52. (2013-2014 Reg. Sess.) Tribes are the primary source for identification of a tribe’s ancestral territory.
