XXXXXXX VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT CHROMEBOOK TAKE HOME PROGRAM. Students using school-provided devices (ChromeBooks) are responsible for the condition and security of the devices, and financially liable for replacement or repair of damaged, lost of stolen devices. Xxxxxxx Valley School District (MVS) is offering students the opportunity to enroll in a program covering damage, lost and theft for devices taken off school property. The program base rate of $25 annually, adjusted up or down based on risk factors. This rate may be adjusted up or down in subsequent years to maintain an adequate fund to meet projected needs. The program will remain in effect for one school year or until the device (or its replacement) is returned to the school, whichever is sooner. If the school sells or otherwise relinquishes ownership of the device, this program becomes null and void. Under this program, the school will generally not hold the student liable for repair or replacement costs of an accidentally damaged, lost or stolen device. The school will make a reasonable effort to provide a replacement device in a timely fashion. The ChromeBook program does not cover damage due to abuse or gross negligence. Selling or other intentional disposal of an covered device and reporting it as lost or stolen is fraud, and will be prosecuted according to Idaho lay. The premium for individual students may be adjusted up or down due to risk factors based on previous use. Those risk factors include loss or damage to devices and previous use practices.
