Workers' Compensation - Safety. A. State Labor Code 4850 Pay. Specified employees as defined in State Labor Code 4850 who are members of the Contra Costa County Retirement System continue to receive full salary benefits in lieu of temporary disability during any absence from work which qualifies for Workers' Compensation benefits. Currently, the maximum 4850 pay is one (1) year for any injury or illness. To be eligible for this benefit, the employee must be under the care of a physician. All 4850 pay shall be approved by the County Administrator's Office, Risk Management Division.
