Voluntary Educational Leave. After completing one (1) year of continuous service, an employee, upon written request, may be granted a leave of absence without pay by the City for the purpose of upgrading their professional ability through enrollment in educational courses directly related to employment at an accredited school or course of study. The period of such leave of absence shall not exceed one (1) year, but may be renewed or extended upon request of the employee and approval of the Department Director. One-year leaves of absence, with requested extensions, for educational purposes may not be provided more than once in any three (3) year period. The replacement shall be considered a temporary employee.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.
