Staff Privileges. Each Hospital shall assist in granting staff privileges or other appropriate access to Company’s Participating Providers who are qualified medical or osteopathic physicians, provided they meet the reasonable standards of practice and credentialing standards established by the Hospital’s medical staff and bylaws, rules, and regulations.

For example, if a hospital, which formerly admitted general practitioners but excluded minority group physicians from its staff, subsequently adopts a policy restricting staff membership to specialists while retaining general practitioners already on staff, it must admit any general practitioner who would have been qualified formerly but for his race, color, or national origin.

Staff Privileges. No Physician shall be entitled to admit, or treat, or prescribe for a Member in a Hospital if the Physician is not a member in good standing of the Hospital’s medical staff with appropriate clinical privileges to admit and treat Members in the Hospital. Each Hospital shall expeditiously review, consider and reach a conclusion on any applications for medical staff membership or clinical privileges Physicians contracted with Plan who are not members of the Hospital’s medical staff, in accordance with the Hospital’s medical staff bylaws, and all applicable rules and regulations, and on the same substantive basis as applications by other licensed physicians. Each Hospital shall notify Plan when it revokes or materially modifies the privileges of any contracting Physician. Written notification shall be submitted to Plan at the time of the occurrence.’ No contracting Physician shall be entitled to admit, treat, or prescribe for a Member in a Nursing Facility or an Intermediate Care Facility who has not met the applicable rules and regulations of such facility.
