Common use of Salary on Demotion Clause in Contracts

Salary on Demotion. a. When a trial service employee voluntarily demotes to a job classification with a lower salary range, the new rate of pay will be at that step in the new range the employee would have attained had he/she not served in the higher classification. If the employee had an eligibility date for a merit salary increase in the lower class, it shall be retained if the employee is not at the top of the new salary range.
