Role of Seniority in Layoffs. In the event of a layoff, employees shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority within the affected classification. An employee given notice of layoff shall have the right to bump a more junior employee in an equal or lower job classification, providing the employee exercising the right has the qualifications and ability to perform the work of the employee with less seniority. An employee given notice of layoff shall have the right to bump temporary or casual employees at an equal or lower job classification. Such employees will assume temporary or casual status, as applicable, but will retain their regular employee seniority for the purpose of recall for the duration of the recall period.
