Nurse and Unit Director. ‌ If a nurse has a grievance involving an alleged breach of contract on the part of the Employer, and it has not been resolved through discussions with the nurse’s Unit Director, the nurse shall reduce the grievance to writing and present it to the Unit Director or the Human Resources Department, or to the Grievance Officer who will present it to the Unit Director or Human Resources Department. In order that the grievance be timely, the written grievance must be received by the Unit Director (or Human Resources Department) within twenty one (21) calendar days of the date that the grievant either knew or should have known that facts existed, which constitute the basis for the grievance. The written grievance shall contain a description of the alleged problem, the specific section of the contract that has been allegedly breached, the date it occurred and the corrective action the grievant is requesting. The Unit Director shall meet with the nurse, Grievance Officer and/or the WSNA Representative within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of the grievance. The Unit Director shall respond in writing to the grievance within fourteen (14) calendar days of the meeting.
