The floating holidays shall be scheduled on a first- come basis and taken in the applicable calendar year. Eligible employees shall receive one (1) regular day’s pay for each of the holidays listed above on which they perform no work. Whenever any of the holidays listed above shall fall on a Sunday, the succeeding Monday shall be observed as the holiday. Whenever any of the holidays listed above shall fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as the holiday. If a holiday is observed on an employee’s scheduled day off or during his/her vacation, he/she shall be paid for the unworked holiday. If an employee works on any of the holidays listed, he/she shall be paid at the rate of time and one- half (1-1/2) in addition to the holiday pay. * One floating holiday takes the place of the paid day off on an employee’s birthday as provided in the 2009-2010 contract. * An additional annual floating holiday may be taken by each bargaining unit member for the life of the 2021-2023 2024-2026 contract with the respective Department Head’s approval, so long as it does not create additional over time for the department.
