Tribal Cultural Resources definition

Tribal Cultural Resources means sites, features, places, cultural landscapes, sacred places, and objects with cultural value to a California Native American tribe, including unique archaeological resources and historical resources as described under sections 21074, 21083.2(g), and 21084.1 of the Public Resources Code, respectively. Tribal Cultural Resource shall also include sites or resources identified by the tribe through an action of the Tribal Council or equivalent body.

Tribal Cultural Resources and “TCRs” means a category of resources in the California Environmental Quality Act that considers the tribal cultural values in addition to the scientific and archaeological values when determining impacts and mitigation. It is defined as sites, features, places, cultural landscapes, sacred places, and objects with cultural value to a California Native American tribe that are either included or determined to be eligible for inclusion in the California Register of Historical Resources or included in a local register of historical resources, or a resource determined by the lead agency, in its discretion and supported by substantial evidence, to be significant. A cultural landscape that meets these criteria is a Tribal Cultural Resource to the extent that the landscape is geographically defined in terms of the size and scope of the landscape.

Tribal Cultural Resources. A qualified archaeologist shall monitor all ground disturbing activating within native sediments. If an pre-contact and/or historic-era cultural resources are discovered during project implementation, the San Xxxxxx Band of Mission Indians Cultural Resources Department (SMBMI) shall be contacted, as detailed in CR-1.   • Cultural resources means archaeological and historic sites and artifacts, and traditional religious, ceremonial and social uses and activities of affected Indian tribes.
