Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services definition

Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services means the prompt evaluation and treatment of an Emergency Condition and/or non-airborne transportation to a Hospital. The services must be provided by an ambulance designed, equipped and used only to transport the sick and injured and staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), paramedics, or other certified medical professionals. We will, however, only Cover transportation to a Hospital provided by such an ambulance service when a prudent layperson, possessing an average knowledge of medicine and health, could reasonably expect the absence of such transportation to result in:

Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services means the prompt evaluation and treatment of an emergency medical condition, and/or non- air-borne transportation of the patient to a Hospital, provided however, where the patient utilizes non-air-borne emergency transportation pursuant to this paragraph, reimbursement will be based on whether a prudent layperson, possessing an average knowledge of medicine and health, could reasonably expect the absence of such transportation to result in: (1) placing the health of the person affected with such condition in serious jeopardy, or in the case of a behavioral condition placing the health of such person or others in serious jeopardy; (2) serious impairment to such person's bodily functions; (3) serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part of such person; or (4) serious disfigurement of such person.

Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services means the prompt evaluation and treatment of an Emergency Medical Condition and/or non-airborne transportation to a Hospital. An ambulance service may not charge or seek reimbursement from You for Pre- Hospital Emergency Medical Services except for the collection of any applicable Copayment, Deductible or Coinsurance. In the absence of negotiated rates, We will pay a Non-Network Provider the usual and customary charge for Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services, which shall not be excessive or unreasonable. We also cover emergency ambulance transportation by a licensed ambulance service (either ground, water or air ambulance) to the nearest Hospital where Emergency Services can be performed. We cover Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services and emergency ambulance transportation worldwide.
Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services means basic life support, advanced life support, transport and such other value-added emergency medical services performed prior to the patient's arrival at the medical facility.
