TIME EMPLOYEES. PartThe Company recognizes the importance of allowing its employees to schedule time off the job and the Union understands the Company's production requirements. In order to ensure that the priorities for both parties are met, a procedure to allow "temporary part-time employ- ees" to replace bargaining unit employees shall on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays will be formalized in the Collective Agreement. TIME EMPLOYEES. Part Time Employees in a with Separate City and Dock Operations
(a) Part-time employees in a terminal with separate city and dock operations shall be defined as persons who are employed by the Company to supplement the regular employee work force force, provided they are not called into work outside an established shiftshift and provided they do not perform work outside the Dock Department. Section Limitation Effective October and thereafter if the total hours worked by all part-time employees in any calendar week exceed ten percent (10%) of the product of forty (40) hours times the number of regular employees on the Dock Department seniority list, then the Company will hire an additional employee for regular employment accordance with Section of this Agreement. Until such are hired, no part-time may be utilized by the Company. Section or Weekly Limitations Where the hours worked by a part-time employee exceed four (4) hours in any one day or twenty (20) hours in any one (Ic)alendar week, the Company upon receipt of a grievance, pay to the senior employee who files such grievance who would have been available to such work, an amount equal to the time worked by such part-time employee in excess of the daily or weekly limitation. Section Posted Starting Limitations The starting times for part-time employees shall be posted and/or changed on a weekly basis in the Dock Department with a copy to the Local in accordance with the following: there shall be no more than two (2) starting per day; and there shall be no less than hours between any two (2) starting times. TIME EMPLOYEES. Part34.01 The following paragraphs contain the working conditions relating to part-time employees. All other benefits outlined in the articles of the Collective Agreement only apply to full-time regular employees unless otherwise indicated.
a) The Company shall continue to staff its operations with "full- time" employees whenever a reasonable degree of employee utilization can be defined as persons who are employed by achieved. TIME EMPLOYEES. PartThe parties recognize that job security increases in proportion to the length of service with the Employer. In the event of a reduction of work, the Employer agrees that regular part-time employees shall be defined as persons who are employed laid off in the reverse order of their seniority within the bargaining unit. The employees shall be recalled to work in order of their seniority within the bargaining unit. Notwithstanding the aforementioned provisions, the Employer may vary the application of the seniority provisions when employees with greater seniority do not possess the necessary qualifications and skills to do the work normally required by the Company Employer. TIME EMPLOYEES. The Employer shall be free to hire part-time employees according to the needs of the Employer and to pay them no less than the first increment step of the salary which would be applicable to a full-time employee doing similar work. Part-time employees shall be defined regarded as persons who are coming under this Agreement, except that:
a) Unless expressly referred to elsewhere in this Agreement, all reference to and articles dealing with the following subjects will not apply to such part-time employees: Hours of Work Rest Days In the event of a layoff or a promotion, the seniori- ty of a part-time employee will be calculated at one-half of what it would have been had he been employed full-time instead of part-time. All part-time employees will, however, be entitled to any institutional seniority which they may pre- viously have acquired while employed as full-time employees, provided that all periods of full-time and part-time employment entering into the were continuous, that is, not interrupted by a termination of employment. All benefits deriving to permanent full-time employees under any article in this Agreement which with wages and supplementary benefits (paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid vacations, increment steps) will be earned by time employees in accordance with the Company to supplement ratio of the regular work force provided they are not called into work outside an established shiftnumber of hours the part-time employee works, over what full-time hours would have been for that same period. Part-time employees may be used apply for promotions or transfers to replace employees on sick leave, vacations or authorized leave of absence. TIME EMPLOYEES. PartThe Union recognizes that the Company will continue to require the use of part-time employees from time to In accordance with this understandingthe Company agrees that part-time employees shall not be defined as persons who are employed by used to the extent they displace employees within the bargaining unit and shall not be used to prevent the hiring of full-time employees except for reasons beyond the control of the Company. Part-time employees may be used utilized within a Distribution Centre to cover for vacation and absenteeism of any kind; also, for business fluctuations which may occur from time to time; except on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in a Distribution Centre with a full weekend shift for full time employees when part-time employees will only be utilized on those days to replace full time employees who have Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday as part of their regular schedule of work and who are absent for all or part of those days for vacation or for absenteeism of any kind.
