Switch Disconnectors. Switch disconnectors for indoor use shall be of robust sheet steel, epoxy finish construction rated to at least IP41. For outdoor use, switch disconnectors shall be of thermoplastic construction and rated to at least IP65. Both types shall comply with BS EN 60947-3 and shall be capable of disconnecting on load. Two pole devices shall be utilized for single phase circuits, four pole for three phase circuits. Disconnection shall be simultaneous on all poles. All switch disconnectors shall have the facility to be padlocked in the ON or OFF position.

Switch Disconnectors. Each switch disconnector shall be capable of making short circuit faults in accordance with the requirements of the relevant IEC recommendation or national standard and shall be capable of making and breaking full load currents. Unless otherwise approved by a recognised independent testing authority, the manufacturer shall carry out in the presence of the Engineer the making and breaking type tests specified. The Engineer may agree to the omission of these tests if the Contractor submits for approval satisfactory details of independently witnessed tests which have been carried out on this type of equipment under identical conditions as stated in this Specification.
