Sick Leave Sharing. After exhausting all sick leave, Emergency/Personal Business, and Vacation days, the support employee may request participation in the Sick Leave Sharing. The sick leave sharing shall permit district employees to donate sick leave to a fellow district employee who is pregnant or recovering from childbirth or who is suffering from or has a relative or household member suffering from an extraordinary or severe illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition which has caused or is likely to cause the employee to take leave without pay or to terminate employment. A Support Employee can only use the "Sick Leave Sharing" after one (1) full year of service to the school district. The maximum number of days any employee can draw from the sharing is one hundred (100) days annually. The maximum number of days an employee may donate is two (2) days per sharing. The Support Employee who is requesting an account be established must: 1. Send a written request to the Superintendent explaining the reasons that an account needs to be established. 2. Complete a request form for donated sick leave. 3. Provide medical documentation. The Superintendent will: 1. Sign and approve or disapprove all requests. 2. Consider each request separately 3. Consider all catastrophic illness/accident requests 4. Upon approval of the request, will notify the Clerk of the Board, who will then establish a sick leave sharing account and notify district employees that an account has been established. Donations for sick leave sharing, pursuant to the request for donated sick leave, shall be made within thirty (30) calendar days of the date of the notice of request. Any requests by an employee for the establishment of more than one sick leave sharing account during a contract year, shall be subject to review and approval by the Superintendent or designee. Request by an employee for the establishment of a sick leave sharing account(s) in a subsequent contract year shall be subject to review and approval by the Superintendent or designee.

Consistent with the provisions and requirements of state and federal statutes and this contract, Emergency/Personal Business, and Vacation days, the support employee employees may request participation in the Sick Leave Sharing. The share accumulated annual leave or sick leave sharing shall permit district employees to donate sick leave to a fellow district with another employee who is pregnant or recovering from childbirth or who is suffering from who:
i. Suffers from, or has a relative or household member suffering from of relative who suffers from, an extraordinary or severe illness, injury, injury or impairment, or physical or mental condition; is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking; needs time for parental leave; is sick or temporarily disabled because of a pregnancy; or has been call to service in the uniformed services.
ii. Has a condition or circumstance with is of an extraordinary or severe nature and which has caused caused, or is likely to cause cause, the employee to take to:
A) Apply for leave without pay pay, or;
B) Terminate employment;
1) Has depleted or to terminate employmentwill shortly deplete all applicable leave reserves. A Support Employee can only use the "Sick Leave Sharing" after one (1) full year of service to the school district. The Support Employee staff member who is requesting an account be established must:
1. Send a written request sick or temporarily disabled because of pregnancy or using parental leave does not have to the Superintendent explaining the reasons that an account needs deplete all annual and sick leave reserves; he or she can maintain up to be establishedforty (40) hours of sick leave in reserve.
2. Complete a request form for donated sick ) Has abided by District rules regarding use of leave.
3. Provide medical documentation. ) The Superintendent will:
1. Sign staff member has diligently pursued and approve or disapprove all requestsbeen found to be ineligible to receive industrial insurance benefits.

4. Upon approval of the request, will notify the Clerk of the Board, b. A staff member who will then establish does not accrue annual leave but who has a n accrued sick leave sharing account and notify district employees that an account has been established. Donations for sick leave sharing, pursuant to the request for donated sick leave, shall be made within thirty (30) calendar days of the date of the notice of request. Any requests by an employee for the establishment balance of more than one twenty-two (22) days may request that the Superintendent transfer a specified amount of sick leave sharing to another staff member authorized to received such leave, as described above.
c. A staff member may request to transfer no more than six (6) days of sick leave during any twelve (12) month period and may not request to transfer that would result in an accrued sick leave balance of fewer that twenty-two (22) days.
d. A staff member who receives personal leave may request that the superintendent transfer a specified amount of personal leave to another person authorized to receive shared leave. A staff member may request to transfer no more than the accumulated amount of personal leave available.
e. In the event the employee receiving donated leave does not use all leave donated, the unused donated leave in such employee’s leave account during a contract year, shall be subject returned to review and approval by donors, prorated, within sixty (60) days after the Superintendent or designee. Request by an employee for the establishment recipient’s use of a accumulated leave ceases.
f. Contributions of sick leave sharing account(s) in a subsequent contract year shall be subject to review on a voluntary basis. The names of donors, non-donors and approval recipients shall be kept confidential.
g. This provision shall be in conformity with rules and regulations as prescribed by the Superintendent or designeeRCW 41.04.650, 41.04.655 and 41.04.
