Professional Librarians. 4.4.1 The professional library staff shall have faculty status and equivalent rank, but contract appointments may differ from those of other University faculty in length of appointment (up to twelve (12) months/year), salary and vacation periods in accordance with the needs of the University and the normal practices of the profession. As a general policy, new appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor. A new appointment may be made at the rank of Associate Professor, if the candidate meets the paper qualifications for the rank, and the application has the support of the xxxx and the Library Faculty Personnel Committee.
