Professional Development Pool a. All professional development leave/expenditures must be approved by the Superintendent at least two (2) weeks prior. The pool will have a maximum of $4,500 available. Employees are allowed $300 per year. If cost of professional development exceeds the $300 allowed, employee may apply to the Superintendent for additional funds.
Professional Development Pool. A Professional Development Pool will be created as follows: a) On April 1st of each year, for each full-time Member the amount of $2,500 will be placed in the Professional Development Pool. b) The Professional Development Pool is a consolidated account solely for the use of full-time Member for all expenses related to scholarly advancement, including travel expenses, attendance at conferences, and travel and related expenses for research activities. c) To be eligible for consideration for pool monies, each full-time Member will be required to submit an annual professional development/research plan and application for funds from the pool by February 15th for review by a panel consisting of the Deans of each Faculty, the Associate Vice-President Research and Faculty Affairs and three Faculty Members, with a minimum of one Faculty Member from each of the Faculties, as appointed by the Faculty Association. The panel will decide which applications will be approved, reduced, or rejected. d) An individual Member may combine approved funds from his Personal Professional Development Fund with approved funds from the Professional Development Pool. e) Reimbursement of claimed expenses will be made for expenses consistent with the approved application for Professional Development Pool funds and in accordance with the University Policy on Travel and Business-Related Expenses #FN 2.05.

It is the intent of the parties that these funds be expended for programs/activities planned and developed to meet building, program and District level goals and/or upgrading personal/professional competence. 3. Mini-grants cannot be used to pay for an employee’s time to attend a workshop, course, or conference. Projects must receive the approval of the curriculum director or building principal prior to being submitted. 5. For proposals involving salary stipend requests, such proposal will state the services to be performed, the number of hours for which pay would be received for performing these services and the means by which accountability for performance of these services can be monitored.

Certificated employees will be notified of the due date at least five school days prior to the deadline. Professional Development Pool. The College encourages faculty to seek professional development opportunities. These opportunities shall be made available to each bargaining unit member in accordance with the College’s travel policy. The College agrees to maintain a professional development pool of $50,000 each academic year. Full-time faculty members may request up to $1,500 out of state or $1,200 in-state per year for professional development subject to approval by the Professional Development Committee.
Professional Development Pool. ‌ 24.01 There will be a pool totaling ten (10) work days per calendar year which can be accessed by employees for the purpose of professional development. Employees desiring to access any of these ten (10) days off with pay shall submit a written request at least fourteen (14) days prior to the day(s) requested, and such request must specify the nature of the professional development activity. Professional development days will be granted at the discretion of the Employer, who shall take into account the Employer’s operational needs, the employee’s seniority, teaching schedule, and the nature of the activity. The Employer may restrict the number of the employees seeking to take professional development on the same day. Preference will be given to employees who have not previously applied.

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.

  • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund. Any unused balances in these funds shall carry over to the next budget year. 23.1.2 The College agrees to provide the Association with the authority to administer the program on behalf of the College for those activities approved by the College in accordance with 23.2, 23.4 and 23.5. 23.1.3 Nothing in this Agreement prevents the College from funding professional development activities in addition to those activities supported through the Professional Development Funds (23.1.1) in accordance with the procedures described in this Article.
