Personal Development Days. In the interest of promoting harmonious labor relations, the State of California and Local 39 and 501 representing Bargaining Unit 13 agree to implement the following language regarding Professional Development Days: The State shall provide to all Bargaining ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇ employees, two (2) days per fiscal year (without loss of compensation) for activities such as, professional association activities, professional and/or personal development seminars, etc., to promote professional and/or personal growth and to enhance professional and/or personal goals. These activities are at the employees’ expense and therefore the choice of activity is at the employees’ discretion. This time shall be requested and approved in the same manner as vacation/annual leave and used in hourly increments. Such time shall not be accumulated.

Personal Development Days. An employee may be granted a leave without pay to take or attend seminars, workshops or short courses in which the employee wishes to enrol, provided such unpaid leave is approved by the Employer.

In addition to the rates of pay specified in the Salary Appendix, Employees with 20 or more calendar years of nursing service shall receive a 2% Special Long Service Pay Adjustment. This adjustment shall form part of the Employee’s basic rate of pay. 2. Calendar years of nursing service to determine eligibility for the Special Long Service Pay Adjustment will be based upon the calendar years registered with any nursing licensed body. 3. Within 90 days of: (a) ratification of the Collective Agreement, or (b) date of employment, or (c) achieving 20 calendar years of nursing service, an Employee eligible for a Special Long Service Pay Adjustment shall provide the Employer with reasonable proof of the Employee’s calendar years of nursing service. An Employee who requires further time to obtain reasonable proof shall, within the 90 days above, provide the Employer with written notice of her or his efforts, in which case, the Employer shall provide a reasonable extension of time for providing such proof.   • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund. Any unused balances in these funds shall carry over to the next budget year. 23.1.2 The College agrees to provide the Association with the authority to administer the program on behalf of the College for those activities approved by the College in accordance with 23.2, 23.4 and 23.5. 23.1.3 Nothing in this Agreement prevents the College from funding professional development activities in addition to those activities supported through the Professional Development Funds (23.1.1) in accordance with the procedures described in this Article.
