Other Unpaid Leaves. 1. Upon written request of an employee, the Board may grant an unpaid leave of absence for a period of no more than two (2) school years for educational, professional, or other purposes and shall grant such leave where illness or other disability is the reason for the request. Without request, the Board may grant up to two (2) years unpaid leave of absence for physical or mental disability; however, the employee may request a hearing before the Board on any unrequested leave of absence.
