Common use of Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave Clause in Contracts

Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave. Employees shall be entitled to leave without pay for up to a maximum of six (6) months for the purpose of childbearing and/or for caring for newly born or newly adopted children. Employees may use accrued sick leave for maternity/paternity or adoption purposes. Additional leave may be authorized by the County Manager. To the extent that any leave taken under this paragraph also qualifies for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act, the first twelve (12) weeks of leave taken shall count against the employee’s available leave under the FMLA.
