Limits of City's Responsibility. It is specifically agreed that, except as provided in Sub-article 5.5 hereof, the City assumes no obligation, financial or otherwise, arising out of the provision of this Article 5 and the Union hereby agrees that it will indemnify and hold the City harmless from any claims, actions or proceedings by any employee arising from deductions made by the City in accordance with and pursuant to this Article. The City will promptly notify the Union of any claim made against the City, and the City will permit the Union to participate in and/or otherwise undertake the defense of any claim. Once the funds are remitted to the Union, their disposition thereafter shall be the sole and exclusive obligation and responsibility of the Union.
