Common use of Family and Medical Leave Act Leave Clause in Contracts

Family and Medical Leave Act Leave. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and its associated regulations will apply to all bargaining unit members who meet its eligibility requirements. For purposes of this Section, "12-month period" is defined as "the 12-month period measured forward from the date the employee's first FMLA leave begins" (i.e. the leave year is specific to each employee). The member is entitled to twelve (12) weeks of leave during the 12-month period beginning on the first date FMLA leave is taken. The next 12-month period commences the first time FMLA leave is taken after the completion of any previous 12- month period.
