Definitions Vacancy. An open position resulting from the retirement, resignation, transfer, or termination of an employee. New Position A position that becomes available during the school year because of the need for an additional employee. Transfer The voluntary or involuntary movement of a paraeducator from one building to another. Seniority The length of continuous service in the district including state and federally recognized leaves of absence. Seniority shall be counted from the date of the employee’s most recent appointment by the Colonial School District Board of Education. Reduction in Force A reduction in the number of paraeducators needed to meet the needs of the District. Recall The placement of a paraeducator who has been laid off into another position.

  • Definition of Vacancy A vacancy shall be defined as a newly created position or a present position that is not filled. A position that is totally eliminated shall not be considered a vacancy.
