Standby guardian means an individual designated by the court under s. 54.52 (2) whose appointment as guardian becomes effective immediately upon the death, resignation, or court’s removal of the initially appointed guardian, or if the ini- tially appointed guardian is temporarily or permanently unable, unavailable, or unwilling to fulfill his or her duties.
