Portable Document Format definition

Portable Document Format or “PDF” means the computer file format developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated for representing documents in a manner that is independent of the original application software, hardware, and operating system used to create those documents.
Portable Document Format or “.pdf format” means a type of document formatting that can be created with almost any word processing program. “PDF text format” means a text-searchable PDF file generated from an original word- processing file. Scanned documents can also be converted to .pdf format.
